Markets around the world rocked today on fears from Dubai defaulting on their debt. Guess they want to extend their debt obligations ranging between $70-90 Billion dollars. This helped to drag markets down everywhere, however the TSX closed positive and the US recovered slightly from the days lows.
Currently I have no individual short positions but I do have SDS and HXD.TO (which are inverse ETFs that profit when the markets go down). I'm using these as a hedge against my long positions and I have been cutting my long exposure down. I think this market is going to trade rangebound for awhile here so I am doing some option spreads to profit from this environment, which yield around 7-10% as long as the market stays within these ranges.
Be cautious and disciplined in this market and cut your losses quick if you have any. There is no room for holding onto losers.
